Scientists have identified what may be an entirely new subspecies of whale living in Earth’s oceans.
Genetic analysis suggests the Arabian Sea humpback could be a fourth subspecies of humpback whale, according to research published in Frontiers in Marine Science.
The discovery follows 25 years of whale studies in Oman conducted by the Wildlife Conservation Society working closely with the Environment Society of Oman (ESO).
